Some people need to set up a home office but the only floor space they have available is the dinning room. Where are they going to eat? How will they entertain?
Some new office arrangements, sometimes called 'Clubs', require a whole team to share facilities like meeting rooms and computer terminals. For one meeting you need a computer to run a multimedia presentation, but for the next you need big table with people sitting across from one another and looking eye-to-eye.
Both these requirements can be met with the 'Dumb Waiter Computer Table'. The monitor and printer are mounted in a central well where they can be pushed down and covered with a trap door in the table top. The sketch above shows them in the up position and the second sketch below shows them down.
The keyboard, mouse, and telephone are mounted on a pull out shelf that slides into the side of the desk. The computer is resting on a rolling platform so that it can be pushed back out of the way.
The construction is simple and straight forward. You need only commonly available woodworking skills and tools. The moving central tray is supported by the chains and pulleys normally used for sash windows. This shelf is counter waited with free weights from a sports store. The legs are a standard mail order item and are available in several styles.
You get to decide how much money you wish to spend for a nice hardwood top. For a few hundred onver the minimum, it can be a real bueaty.
This table is wider and longer than most computer desks. In fact, it is more the size of a dinning room or conference table.
If this is the desk for you, email us this little form and we will detail the design just to suit your needs.
